A closer look at one of the most-anticipated collections this year, courtesy of one of the best rappers alive right now.
If you think you know everything there is to know about Chance the Rapper, think again.
In a video teasing H&M's collaboration with Kenzo, which is set to debut on November 3, the man with the perfect life says his secret passion is screenwriting, and reveals that he's not nearly as well-read as people assume he is. "In all honesty, I haven't read a book since when I was like in high school," he admits. "I'm very good at pretending like I read a lot, but I don't really know anything."
That might be a little bit of an understatement—the guy is seriously talented—but what he's wearing in the video and in the Jean Paul Goude-shot campaign is anything but understated. Chance is clad in the least subtle outfit we've seen in a long time: a neon-green-and-black tiger print jumpsuit and a pair of rubber rain boots with a bright green sole. And we'd expect nothing less of designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim.
He's joined in the campaign by Iman, Vietnamese rapper Suboi, Rosario Dawson, Japanese musican Ryuichi Sakamoto, Chloë Sevigny, and 16-year-old climate change activist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez. The campaign images released today use one of Goude's signature techniques: slicing a picture up to elongate a subject's features. And if the rest of the collaboration is as bright and bold as what chance wearing in his shot, we're in for one of the most eye-popping collections of the year.
Take a closer look at Chance's jumpsuit (and listen to him talk about his love of film and volunteering with kids in Chicago) below.
