Today in London, Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey presented his latest collection, one that shifts the London brand's business strategy to see-now, buy-now. His men's and women's collections (shown together) became available to purchase immediately after the runway show, a move that takes the brand's previous buy-now strategy (where customers could pre-order products) to one that gives customers immediate gratification.
So for Fall 2016—or, right now—the brand went for a gender-neutral-meets-Elizabethan-England vibe with a collection inspired by Virginia Woolf's book Orlando, about a man who one day wakes up as a woman. For the guys, this meant ruffled-collar shirts, voluminous trousers, lived-in Chelsea boots, oversize knits, and wide selection of outerwear pieces from oversized to trim-fitting. Add a little pajama collection and you've got an idea for the collection's louche yet sophisticated vibe.
And while making everything immediately available makes shopping the goods easy enough (maybe too easy, if you ask us), we've decided to go one further and pick out a few of our favorite pieces that would look good on your back right around now.
