When it comes to stylish hunting attire, American men don’t hold a candle to Brits. In the US, head-to-toe camo is about as classy as it gets, while in Britain, it’s all tailored jackets, flat caps, and crewneck sweaters. David Beckham and Guy Ritchie reminded us of this divide when they went out this weekend to shoot some pheasant, dressed in layers of tweed and cashmere in earthy, elegant tones. There was not a pair of Oakleys in sight. No one had a Duck Dynasty-level beard. Their accessories consisted of neckties, silk scarves, and cufflinks instead. They finished the day by enjoying a nice bottle of wine. It was all very chill.
These photos also cement David Beckham’s status in our minds as a modern-day living Ken doll. That’s not to say he doesn’t have substance as a human, just that, in the grand tradition of the Barbie franchise, he has a perfect outfit for every activity on the agenda. When he goes to Wimbledon, he wears a sharp navy suit with all the furnishings. When he goes to spin class, he dons a neon tank top with matching neon shoes. And when it’s time to go to a fashion show, you better believe he’s going to show up in head-to-toe black. The man just isn’t afraid to go with a theme; and he always looks great because of it.
May all of our wardrobes—and weekend activities—be this wonderfully varied. And may we never go hunting with American flag bandanas on our heads ever again.
