Converse's Second Most Famous Basketball Sneaker Has Never Looked Better

A rusty orange suede brings the Converse Pro Leather from the hardwood to the streets.

Everyone knows about the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars, but the Pro Leather also has a special place in basketball history. First introduced in 1976, the sneakers were the perfect fit for Julius Erving (aka Dr. J), whose swagger and electrifying style of play changed the game forever—namely with the advent of the slam dunk. Since the 80s, however, the Pro Leather has gone that way of its older Converse brother to become more of a street shoe as lighter, bouncier, more teched-out basketball sneakers have become the norm. (Like Chucks they're also totally affordable at just 75 bucks.) That's okay though, as the Pro Leather remains a stylish classic for almost any occasion. (They're not quite suit-ready, but with some slim trousers and a button-up shirt? Now that's as smooth as ever.)

Now, the Pro Leather has received a luxury upgrade via a new suede design and Nike Lunaron insole (for added comfort) that make them one our favorite sneakers for fall. Particularly in this rusty orange hue (they also come in gray, blue, and yellow), they channel the season in a subtle way without going full-on leaf camo or featuring some kind of turkey graphic. But as it is the season for cargo pants and puffer jackets, these add just enough color to your wardrobe to stand out amongst the soon-to-be dirtied up white leather kicks that flood the streets year round. Like Dr. J himself these sneakers are certainly different and are a swagger-filled sneaker that will never go out of style.
