Pep Guardiola Just Proved Why He's the Most Stylish Coach in the World

The Man City coach brought out some $600 kicks on the pitch.

Pep Guardiola isn't a household name in America, but the football coach (well, soccer football, not NFL football) is known as one of the best in the world, and his reign atop Manchester City has made them one of the best teams in the Premiere League. (And for what it's worth, in our humble opinion Man City has cooler jerseys than the other Manchester-based team.) But you have may have seen Pep on this very website in the past given his impeccable style. And we don't just mean that in terms of professional coaches, a group which globally has set a pretty low bar in terms of the whole looking-good-in-clothes thing. We mean the dude has legitimate style, from his penchant for sweaters under a suit to his well-maintained stubble. Yesterday, Guardiola asserted himself even further as the most stylish coach in sport when he wore a pair of $600 sneakers on the pitch.

The sneakers might look just like a tweaked version of a Converse Chuck Taylor, but are actually made by the dark overlord of the fashion world, Rick Owens. Rick's drapey, asymmetrical designs have set the standard for avant garde, anti-traditional menswear in the 21st century and these sneakers are no exception. It just so happens that his take on the classic Converse sneaker is one of his more every-man pieces, and one that, as Pep Guardiola shows, looks just as great with slim jeans, a navy blue turtleneck, and a simple black topcoat as it would with some drop-crotch pants and a leather bomber jacket.
