Every day of every month at GQ, we start your morning on Instagram with visual advice on What to Wear Today. But we want to go deeper. Give you the nuts and bolts of how to get the look into your wardrobe. Today we're walking through a lazy weekend outfit that's respectable but also comfortable.
Making it through the day when you've had too much to drink the night before is about getting your hands on three things: a hot shower, cheese-forward street food, and comfortable clothes that don't veer into zombie territory. When it comes to the latter, the formula is pretty much what Ryan Reynolds is wearing, above. Slim but not tight jeans (because sweatpants are a dead giveaway) a broken-in T-shirt, a shawl-collar cardigan (the fashion equivalent of a throw blanket), a sporty watch, and a pair of simple high-top sneakers. This is an outfit you can just as easily wear on your couch all day or—god forbid—to your in-law's house for 10am brunch. The cardigan will hide all manner of cold sweat, hand stamp, or hickey you might be dealing with, while the watch will make you look like a man who goes to bed at midnight, not 4:30am. In short, it's perfect. And if you're in such a situation tomorrow morning, well, now you have to think even less about what to put on in order to get yourself out the door.
