Jon Hamm Is Having the Best Suit Week Ever

No stranger to looking good in a suit—in fact, he basically built a career on it—Jon Hamm is (naturally) killing it on the red carpet this week. While taking care of publicity duties for his upcoming film Keeping Up With the Joneses, the actor has turned up at talk shows, red carpets, and glad-handing events dressed every bit like the leading man he is. Let's take a look:

First we've got a two-for-one take on subtle patterns, first in a dark blue plaid two-piece on the he wore Monday while attending a performance of the Broadway show Oh, Hello (at left) while he went for a gray windowpane Brunello Cucinelli at the AOL headquarters for a discussion about his movie earlier today. Both times he chose a suit that, while patterned, was done so in a subdued way, and then, to show off, he paired it with a similarly decorated button-up underneath.

Because he's Jon Hamm, he easily evades the mistake of combining two bold motifs, and instead knew that two low-key check patterns work best when worn together. Even better, he mixes up the scale of the designs, deploying a larger check on the suits paired with a smaller one on the shirt. Then, he keeps the accessories—like a dark tie and the brown dress shoes—classic. All together this elevates the outfits from your basic fare, but he expertly avoids going overboard. In other words, these are some seriously advanced suiting skills.

Not that Hamm can't do classic. Because he can.

That he demonstrated in Los Angeles in a classic Tom Ford navy suit, white shirt, and knit tie. It was your classic tailoring go-to, but it was done perfectly and proved that Jon Hamm is a man who can do both.
