In his short time on this planet, Lucky Blue Smith has made a name for himself as the guy with the perfect cheekbones, double-process blonde hair, and going-out suit game. He wears iridescent tuxedos, bright-color suits, and all manner of formal accessory—from pinky rings to rockstar blouses—and it all looks good. Last night, for instance, he made a white shawl collar tuxedo jacket work with jeans and boots.
The reason it worked (and by worked, we mean killed it) is that Lucky Blue’s jacket isn’t just any ol’ baggy navy thing. It’s cut slim with a single-button closure, is rendered in a luxe-y fabric, and has a slightly cropped fit. That he paired the jacket with an equally swanky shirt, black jeans, and black boots only sealed the deal on the whole thing. A plainer shirt or blue jeans instead of black might have been too casual to work here.
If you’ve got a bold tuxedo or going-out suit with a similar fit, you can and should pull this move yourself. Or, invest in a standalone jacket for expressly this purpose. If you know you'll get more mileage out of it than a traditional two- or three-piece rig, we say why not.
