Supreme Just Made a Classic Trench Coat That Every Man Needs

All the pieces and prices from the Supreme x Aquascutum collaboration.

When Supreme takes on a collaboration the results can often be bold (see: floral-print jeans with Levi's, paisley-patterned parkas with The North Face, or pastel-hued sneakers courtesy of Nike). After all, collaborations are really about standing out from a brand's typical offerings. But once in a while, Supreme will link up with a brand whose classic nature is the star of the show, and tweaks are kept to a minimum. That's just the kind of product they unveiled today alongside legendary London-based outerwear brand Aquascutum.

The capsule collection features a jacket ($398), vest ($286), Rugby shirt ($138), button-up style ($198), and a football (non-American style)-inspired scarf ($148). The standout in the offering is obvious: the raglan-sleeve trench coat. There's one in a blue/brown gingham, another in khaki, and a third in black, each of which are made-up in a custom fit just for Supreme and feature tonal Supreme branding on the back. It's the kind of rain-proof jacket that defined the timeless style of the Mad Men-era, and one every man need in his wardrobe, whether it's for over a suit or, as Supreme demonstrates in their lookbook, over a hoodie.

If you didn't know, Aquascutum is a brand that's been making waterproof outerwear since the mid-19th century (that's right—the brand debuted in 1851). That makes it a just a touch older than Supreme, which was founded in 1994. But in streetwear, 22 years can be more than a lifetime. (Tons of brands have seen their own rise and fall in a fraction of that time.) It's safe to say at least part of the reason Supreme has endured for this long is because of unexpected collaborations like Aquascutum to balance out things like last week's Gucci Mane photo-print tee. That said, with its understated style and $998 price tag, we have to wonder if this trench is poised to fly off the shelves at the neck-breaking pace Supreme's products usually do. That's kind of a shame, as unlike the "buy today, sell tomorrow" pieces kids usually flock to, this collaboration features products that an 18-year-old could buy now and pretty much wear forever.
