We Should All Dress Like Rihanna This Fall

Head to toe swerves from Riri.

Rihanna is a style queen to many women. Hell, she was even awarded the CFDA Style Icon Award in 2014. The reason ladies love her style is two fold: 1) She wears the latest designer fashions with ease and 2) she regularly accessorizes in public via a glass of wine. However, though we respect her style immensely, at GQ we usually don't turn to her for cues on what to wear ourselves—until now. Today Riri was spotted at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City sporting an outfit we legitimately would wear head to toe.

First, let's discuss that coat. That coat! It looks like an oversized Canada Goose parka, but in reality is made by Vetements, the hyped-up Parisian label that made a name for itself by knocking off ubiquitous wears from Alpha Industries Bombers to Thrasher hoodies until they actually collaborated with all of those brands (17 in total) for their spring-summer 2017 collection. However, the jacket Rihanna is sporting is not a collaboration (we'll all have to wait till next year to grab one of the Canada Goose-sanctioned versions). Still, it's got the modern, giant fit Vetements is known for, and looks like it has sleeping bag-level comfortable.

Next are the jeans, which could be an old pair of Levi's (another Vetements-y move) and have the loose, '90s-inspired fit (and light wash) that's popping up everywhere these days, from pleated suit trousers to more flowing, forgiving track pants. Additionally, Rihanna threw it back to '90s style with a pair of Timberland 6" boots, which have become a style staple once more in the menswear world in recent years. Point is, Rihanna is basically wearing head-to-toe menswear, and she looks great doing it.

The real kicker here—and the one some guys might not be ready for—is her Prada bag. Then again, the print on it is the one we've seen on one of the most popular designer shirts of the season. And if you move the bag from the feminine forearm placement Rihanna favors to simply holding it in your hand, you'll see it's really just a standout, head-turning tote bag. Essentially, this is the perfect on-trend weekend outfit for fall 2016. We're not saying you should wear it to a nice dinner, but for a grocery run on a Sunday it's damn good. Whether or not you can sport it with the swag-levels of Rihanna is questionable, but it's worth a shot.
