This Is Apparently the Best Day to Shop Online Between Now and New Yea

If you’re anything like most Americans, you’ll probably drop a whole bunch of cash between now and the end of the year. Between stocking up on holiday gifts and finally facing the fact that, yep, it’s cold outside, not to mention gearing up for your New Year’s resolutions, November and December is a downright spend-y time of year. Adobe released its annual Digital Insights report yesterday, which uses data from online retailer traffic, consumer surveys, and social media mentions, to illustrate just how much we’re going to collectively blow over the next two months. The number they came up with? A record-breaking $91 billion online alone; an 11% increase from 2015 due partly to the fact that retailers are already in full-on holiday mode.

Included in this year’s survey are a number of interesting points, such as the fact that, for the first time ever, mobile will surpass desktop when it comes to shopping traffic (though, people will still actually buy more items on desktop devices). Google Home and Amazon Echo are expected to be among the top gifts of the year, and 5% of consumers will drive 35% of all online sales.

Maybe the best, most useful, insight in the report though is a prediction that the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, November 22, will be the best time to find the steepest discounts on clothes online. Thanksgiving Day will be the best time to shop for sporting goods, gadgets, and jewelry, and Giving Tuesday, November 29, is where you will see the steepest discounts on furniture and bedding.

We can’t stop you from spending more than is sensible this year, but at least now you know how to get the most bang for your buck. And by bang, we mean a shearling bomber and lug-sole Chelsea boots. Because no one, not even the richest 5% among you, wants to buy that stuff full price.
