How Jaden Smith Wears This Season's Coolest Shirt

This certainly isn't the first time we've seen the mock-neck this season and thanks to an endorsement from Cool Teen™ Jaden Smith at last night's MTV EMAs, we're pretty sure that this is only the beginning. And while, a mere decade ago, our advice was an unequivocal no, times change, people change, we've changed, and we're coming around to the once forbidden neckline of yore.

Listen, everything goes in cycles, and the current one has us seeing the style with fresh eyes, and appreciating its 90s-era appeal. For some young people, this very well may be the first time they've encountered the look, and so they embrace it with genuine enthusiasm and none of the 70s nostalgia that older folks may experience when seeing the old chestnut make its way back into the limelight. But, that's the way with these things.

Regardless, it's a new option to add to the scoop-necks, the v-necks, the crewnecks, and turtlenecks that have kept our throat variously exposed and covered over the past few years. And while these are popping up with a lot of frequency in sweater version, Smith makes a strong case for the T-shirt version, to be worn under a jacket or even your standard crewneck knit.
