The Brand Behind the Year's Funniest Fashion Ad Is Back

Palace/Adidas

Check out the brand new hilarious campaign from Palace x Adidas.

Earlier this year, Jonah Hill starred in an ad for a pair of Palace x Reebok sneakers that we dubbed "the funniest fashion ad of the year." Now that ad has some stiff competition from a new Palace x Adidas commercial, which utilizes a similar tongue-in-cheek style. However, rather than rely on a celebrity endorsement (even though Jonah wears Palace regularly in his day-to-day life), the high art of racquetball is at the center of this new spot, as are an '80s-ish backing track and an aggressive German voiceover. There's also a nice nod to the longtime myth that Adidas is an acronym for "All Day I Dream About Soccer," as the voiceover announces "All. Day. I. Dream. About. Sportswear." (For the record, Adidas is named as such because of its founder Adolph (Adi) Dassler.)

The lookbook for the new lineup is also hilarious as it uses the opportunity to crack jokes about British tracksuit style and take digs at the rest of the fashion industry. The most LOL-inducing moment is when the brand offers up a timeline of their brief history with Adidas, noting that in 2014 "everyone was making weird tight pants." Considering the current prominence of wider-legged trousers, there's some truth to the claim. even if it's not, the phrase "Das luxury Palace joggers were life-changing" is still funny.

As for the collection itself, there are indeed cool (if not totally life-changing) things happening. The track suit craze at an all-time high as well as '90s nostalgia-wears, and this current Palace x Adidas offering is right in the sweet spot between those two. And considering wearing the full swishy fabric tracksuit will make you look like your dad at the gym in 1991, the whole racquetball theme makes sense.

The collection consists of a hat, hoodie, windbreaker, pants, tees, and two sneakers. Sadly, if you want some Rec Specs, you'll have to get a pair of your own. Das fashion, ever heard of it?

Palace x Adidas is available Saturday, November 12 at adidas.com and select Palace and Adidas stockists.
