Jonah Hill shows you how to avoid looking like a try hard.
When it comes to streetwear trends, if you're not an actual teenager you'll need to temper your thirst for flexing your jawnz with a healthy dose of self-awareness. If you don't, you risk looking like a try-hard or worse, like a dad trying to fit in at the skate park. Jonah Hill is a master at mixing his favorite of-the-moment brands with more minimal—and therefore more adult—styling. And he proved it once again yesterday in Los Angeles.
Hill's blacked-out jeans and tonal Palace logo tee proved to be the perfect foundation for his bright turquoise Adidas sneakers. (If you want to show off your favorite kicks, this is how you do it.) What also made Hill's outfit a success was how each piece fit the way we'd hope clothes would on a serious movie star with money to burn. And while this was undoubtedly a cool kid-approved outfit, there's nothing childish about how Hill wore it. That's why he added a baller watch (a Patek Philippe Nautilus in this case), a slick pair of black sunglasses, and a not-so-subtle (but hardly obnoxious) piece of man jewelry.
If you're looking to cop the same look, don't forget about the ultimate finishing touch: your hair. Hill is rocking a high fade that accentuates his hair's natural wave on top. To get this kind of slick but not flat sweep back try using a touch of matte styling cream when combing. If you do it right, you'll impress a whole generation of cool teens rather than trying to prove you can keep up with them.
