The much-rumored sneaker is finally dropping on December 1.
The Adidas Ultraboost "Triple black" was starting to feel like an urban myth. A lifetime ago we first saw photos the blackout sneakers—then nothing. There were false starts and fake release dates along the way, but finally the Brand With the Three Stripes™ has given the people a release date for the highly-coveted sneaker: December 1.
For those who need a quick refresher, the Ultraboost was first introduced in early 2015 and has been a runaway success for Adidas. Why? Well, for one, the shoe is comfortable as hell. It also looks cool and is simply a great running shoe performance-wise. The Boost technology that is at the core of the style's appeal is an amazing piece of innovation, yet it's been stifled creatively because until now, it has pretty much only been issued in white. And it's not like Adidas has a choice in the matter. The reason behind this design conundrum is that the actual synthetic bean-shape pieces that are fused together to create the sole are white. Painting them before the fusing process would actually change their chemical properties, which is obviously no bueno. It's an issue Adidas has wrestled with, though recently they seem to have taken to painting the soles after they're created. It's not the best solution, but at least we get some badass-looking Ultraboosts in the meantime.
Much like the all-white Ultraboosts that took off last year amongst the hypebeast crowd, the all-blacks are sure to be an insanely popular style over the next few months. And, if you're lucky, maybe someone in your life will cop a pair for you for the holidays. The style will be released on Adidas Confirmed and online, so here's to hoping your loved ones are quick on the "add to cart" trigger.
