The One Style Mistake Ruining Jonah Hill's Latest Outfit

2016 Tibrina Hobson

And how to avoid making it yourself.

Jonah Hill has been on a prime style streak lately. His affection for both ends of the fashion spectrum — ranging from high-end fashion houses like Saint Laurent to skater favorite Palace — has earned him the respect of industry big wigs and cool teens alike. Plus, he looks damn good in a suit and has the style chops to venture outside of the traditional pairings. But no man is perfect 100% of the time and yesterday Hill's brown belt was the small detail that led to his unceremonious downfall. The actor arrived to a panel discussion on his new film War Dogs in three fourths of a flawless 'fit: His black-and-white Saint Laurent bomber, black button up, matching jeans, and white Common Projects sneakers were all solid choices for the casual event, working perfectly with one another to convey an effortless cool. However, his brown leather belt was like a damn wall, dividing two perfectly great parts right down the middle of entire outfit.

The main advantage of wearing head-to-toe black is its slimming and elongating qualities, by presenting its disparate pieces as a united front. But Hill's belt undid all that by visually breaking the whole into two parts. We would have suggested a less attention grabbing slimmer black belt to keep his look streamlined and modern. And, trust us, there are so many damn black belts out there to choose from. Take your pick, Jonah, take your pick.
