Style Series: Kicked-Back Cool

There’s nothing like a little interpersonal competition to raise the stakes. That’s why GQ enlisted four style pros for a social media #GQxSeikoStyleOff featuring new watch styles from the longstanding Japanese brand. Armed with his own savoir-faire and dapper wardrobe, and aided by the atmospherics of his home city, each GQ Insider integrated a timepiece into a winning look. The results are a testament to the style and versatility of Seiko’s Coutura Radio Sync Solar and Prospect World Time watches—and the extra kick of trying to do your thing a little bit better than the other guy.

A blogger, social-justice advocate, and much-followed tastemaker in style and music, White took to the worn-in streets of downtown Manhattan in a look that’s both crisp and casual. You can’t see it happening, but his Coutura Radio Sync Solar is receiving radio signals from an atomic clock in Fort Collins, Colorado. That’s courtesy of new technology at Seiko that keeps this smart line of watches properly updated no matter where you are. (If he crossed the pond, White would be dialed into the official frequency from a different atomic clock.)

Add out-of-the-box white tennis shoes—no socks necessary—a multi-season zip jacket, and a pop of color in the cargo department and you’re good to go.
