Jonah Hill, Sibling Merch Pioneer

It's been a great year for celebrities dressing wildly on their days off and then bringing some of that rule-breaking style to the red carpet. One well-dressed dude who continues to do both is actor-director (and noted menswear enthusiast) Jonah Hill. Whether you love or hate his personal style (and we know you love it), Hill’s ability to mix threads from brands like Palace Skateboards and Prada is second to none. Just this week, Hill took to the red carpet with a high-low look that paired a hooded sweatshirt with some extremely upscale menswear. It wasn’t just any old hoodie, though—Hill donned a custom, one-off piece that he made for just the occasion.

The event was a screening of the Olivia Wilde-directed comedy Booksmart which stars Beanie Feldstein, Hill’s younger sister and a rising force of her own. The sweatshirt was black and unmarked—other than a small cursive graphic that read “Beanie’s Brother” on the chest. It’s a sweet gesture from Hill, who has spoken time and time again about his admiration for his sister. (He even got a tattoo of her name on his forearm last year.) But Hill wasn’t going to let some sentimental merch get in the way of getting off an A-list fit. He made sure to pair the hoodie with a relaxed-fit jacket and perfectly slouchy pants from beloved label The Row and rounded out the look with some sleek Adidas sneakers. (Another detail worth mentioning: the cool-dude tie of the hood’s drawstring.)

This is a relatively tame look from Hill, who we've grown accustomed to seeing in bold-as-hell outerwear, psychedelic tie-dye tees, and hyped-up streetwear. The outfit fits right into his recent wave of more minimalist-leaning looks. Plus, you can also bet that Hill wasn’t trying to upstage his sister on her big night. It requires a particular type of swagger to pull off a graphic hoodie on the red carpet, but as long as you wear it with an extremely covetable jacket or as part of a monochromatic ensemble, you’re good to go. The fact that Hill used his hoodie to show love for his sibling is just the cherry on top.
