We Partied In the Best Going-Out Clothes of the Season

It's no coincidence that the most compelling fashion of the moment is the kind you want to dance in. At Givenchy, Clare Waight Keller is proposing shimmery sequined blazers and flare-cut trousers because, as real heads know, disco never died. Francesco Risso's Marni man wears party-starting leopard and tiger prints. And for Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello is asking: Why can't everyone wear a sheer, slinky going-out top?

The simple fact is that if you get all dressed up to go out, you will have a better time.

To prove this, we linked up with a crew of night crawlers led by photographer Tyrell Hampton. Barely of drinking age, Hampton has already established himself as the Rose Hartman of the Instagram era, and China Chalet (the infamous restaurant near Wall Street that turns into a club once the kitchen closes) is, he says, “my Studio 54.” More often than not, his friends are the ones throwing the parties—Hank Korsan, Dylan Ali, and Mona Matsuoka are in-demand DJs (and models and artists). And when they're not modeling, Nick Hadad and Dwyer Halliburton throw a semi-regular East Village tattoo party called Crash & Burn.

Needless to say, on any given night when Hampton is chronicling the lives of his young, beautiful, and incredibly stylish friends, the crew turns heads. On a recent Friday night, they stopped by the GQ offices to grab some of fall's biggest statement pieces. From the first China Chalet bathroom selfie to Korsan's late-night set at Kind Regards, there was a certain energy in the air. Maybe it was the tequila shots, or maybe it was Hampton's flashbulb. But for a moment, with everyone dancing on the couches as Korsan spun Timbaland's “Give It to Me,” their sequins and glitter throwing sparks, it really felt like the spirit of the '70s was still alive.
