How to Wear Your Favorite Flannel Shirt This Weekend

On a busy weekend, or a lazy weekend, or any old weekend, putting together an interesting outfit is probably not high on your list of priorities. But spending 48 hours in basketball shorts and pool slides isn't exactly good for business either. Enter: the three-step, chill AF outfit Jake Gyllenhaal wore in London earlier this week. Comprised of a plaid flannel shirt, pair of not-too-tight jeans, and rugged Chelsea boots, the look is masculine, cool, and 100% perfect for whatever you've got going on when you're not on the clock.

The trick is buttoning the shirt all the way up like Gyllenhaal did, creating an off-duty version of what we like to call the air tie, and then not tucking it in. Instead of a hipster lumberjack, you'll look more like an Eastside Angeleno or construction-worker dad—even if you're working with the same exact flannel from your Edison bulb-loving, mustache-rocking days. Why? Because styling is everything. Even on Saturdays.
