Orlando Bloom's 4-Point Plan for Nailing Holiday Travel Airport Style

Part of the reason we make such a “thing” of airport style here at GQ is because it’s a quagmire of style challenges. Those who nail the look have managed to somehow select an outfit that is comfortable in three distinct climates (point A, point B, and the dry, freezing airplane that gets you there), resilient to spills, wrinkles, and other travel-related mishaps (two words: toddler fingers), and nods to the specialness of flying without being totally stuck in the past. Top that off with the fact that you’re often making the decision of what to wear to the airport at some godawful hour, or in some semi-hungover state and, in many ways, it's harder than putting on a tuxedo for a black-tie event or a bomber jacket and Chelsea boots for a night out.

Orlando Bloom, a man who has held the title of Hollywood heartthrob for what feels like eternity, has cracked the code on the whole thing. He is a man who isn’t afraid to bleach his hair at age 39 so that it looks good even when it doesn’t look good, or wear three jackets at once in order to maximize his ability to modify his outfit throughout the day. He clearly understands airport style on a deep level, and we’d be smart to follow his lead as we head into the holiday travel season.
