The 5 Black Friday Sneaker Releases Worth Knowing About

It's the best time of the year for new kicks—whether they're for yourself or a gift for someone else.

Black Friday isn't just a day for great savings—is also a day many sneaker brands have pinpointed as the perfect opportunity for people to stock up on the most hyped-up sneaker releases of the year. Whether they're buying new kicks as gifts or for selfish reasons, Black Friday sneakers have become notorious for inciting mayhem at stores. (Most memorably, people went straight-up berserk trying to score the Air Jordan 11 Concords back in 2011, prompting many brands to adopt newer, safer methods of release.) However in 2016, with more releases throughout the year in general, it's unlikely things will get too out of hand for any specific Black Friday sneaker releases. Still, none of these five releases worth picking up on Friday will be easy to get. Here's what you need to know about each.

Kendrick Lamar x Reebok Classic Green

Kendrick Lamar has used his ongoing collaboration with Reebok to promote community growth as well as ending gang violence, an issue near and dear to his hometown of Compton, California. Lamar says that in Compton there's a saying which says "red and blue makes green." Painters might disagree, but the idea of becoming one community and becoming prosperous as a result is something we all should remember right now. Leave it to Kendrick Lamar to make some cool kicks that also come jam packed with a positive political message.

Available November 25 at reebok.com

Air Jordan 3 "True Blue"

After putting the Jordan 3 in the vault back in 2014, three remastered Jordan 3s have released since mid-October, returning the iconic style to its true 1988 form. The Jordan 3 "True Blue," a classic colorway of the sneaker, was set to drop everywhere on Friday, November 25, but got a surprise release a couple days back on finishline.com. Yesterday they were dropped at places like Kith, but they'll be available on Friday on Nike's own website. If you're a fan of the Jordan 3, now's your chance to get a pair that will transport you back to the days when everyone wanted to be like Mike.

Diamond Supply Co. x Puma Clyde

For years, LA-based streetwear brand Diamond Supply Co. has been putting its signature, jewelry label-inspired blue on some of the most iconic sneakers in the history of footwear in addition to turning out some of the most coveted streetwear in the world. Now it's taking on the Puma Clyde—the sneaker that birthed sneaker culture all the way back in the early '70s.

Under Armour Curry 3 Trifecta Black

Under Amour's Curry sneakers might be more known for their meme-worthyness than anything in 2016. But simply put, these new all-black Curry 3s are the best looking Under Armour sneaker ever to bear the Curry name. (Now, the bar was never very high, but still, these blacked-out hi-tops are kinda badass.) Hopefully this means Under Armour is ready to take the next step from having the most popular player in the NBA to being a legitimate design threat to the big boys in the sneaker world.

Adidas x Bape NMD

Slowly but surely, A Bathing Ape—one of the most influential streetwear brands of all-time—has been staging its comeback. Collaborating with the hottest sneaker brand in the world in Adidas on one of their most hyped-up styles is a great way to keep the Japanese labels' comeback alive. Sure, these ain't no Bapestas, but you best believe kids will be desperate to scoop these up.
